carly's cooking

More and more often, Carly wants to be in the kitchen with me. She is interested in doing everything from using the can opener, to heating things in the microwave, to reading the recipe, and probably her favorite thing stirring. Tonight she even delighted in making jello.
I wish I would have taken pictures of her Sunday night when she helped me make mashed potatoes. Her using the potato peeler made me hold my breath, and I am sure I told her a dozen times "be careful, it's hot". But, mostly what she wanted to do was add the ingredients and mash with the potato masher.
But in the absence of pictures of that night of cooking, here are a couple pictures of her helping me make lasagna.

My kids love to help in the kitchen also. I try to have them help as much as possible. It will be so great that they will know how to cook when they move out.

Your snow pictures look so fun. We need to go sledding before ours is all gone.

It must be so nice to have such a great helper in the kitchen.

I didn't need to look at this picture of your lasagna right now. I'm on a diet and HUNGRY!

I'm with Linda. I'm doing a cleanse, and I'm starving.

The lasagne looks so yummy! Carly is such a good helper! Does she want to come help over here?

You are a GREAT mom to have the patience to help her learn to cook. I was NOT good at that - - - perhaps because I had four all wanting to "help" at the same time.

I used to spread the cottage cheese over the noodles in my lasagna JUST LIKE THAT - - - then someone suggested blending it into the sauce just before the layering part. It works GREAT and is soooooo much faster.

That's so great that she wants to be with you in the kitchen, that's the best way for her to learn and it's such a great memory making experience.
